I Hate Spiders

Okay first off....sorry for the lack of pictures recently!  That just goes to show how busy I've been (okay I admit I keep using my free time for naps...but still haha) I kept on telling myself I was going to ditch orientation, but that didn't really work out.  Every time I tried someone would text me and ask if I wanted to walk with them to the next activity or something.  I swear they were prompted...but I'm really glad I went to the whole thing!

So today my mentor Bryan talked to us about limits and about goal setting.  It wasn't like formal or anything we were just at lunch, but I felt the spirit so strongly.  He said, "Picture yourself in your last days here at BYU.  What kind of a person are you?  Are you out serving between classes?  Are you the person that everyone is saying "hi" to?  Are you the person making sure others are included?"  Then he told me to really commit to goals that will lead me to being that person.

I'm not sure why, but lately I've been sort of shy and sure I've talked to some people here and there, but I haven't really gone the extra mile to get out of my comfort zone.  After Bryan said that I immediately got started on my goal.  I remembered my experience at EFY and decided that if I wanted to have a good time here at BYU I needed to focus on making it great for others...not myself.

I ended up talking to several new people and I even met a guy from my ward while I was walking back to my dorm! And I know what you're thinking...but no it wasn't like that!!! Everyone keeps asking me about whether there's a special guy.  How on earth would there even be a special guy...it's been two days!  Plus, I'm not focused on guys right now....all I can think about is my impossible writing class! I finally finished the 40 billion pages of reading!

Anyway, so last night was super fun! We did like folk dancing (I think that's what it's called) and well whatever that was that is my kind of dancing! It was easy and I could actually keep up!  Then at around midnight Ashley and I noticed that our meal cards had a balance of $0.00 so we decided to go try them out on the vending machines.

Some kids asked if we wanted to play frisbee and we said no and they were super persistent BUT we still said no... we're so anti social haha!  We kept going completely around the building to avoid them! Anyway, so it was like pitch black so Ashley brought her pink Taser! What a genius!

So vending machines here are as precious as gold (just like book lights in Vegas).  Ashley and I took forever and a day to find one!  We finally found some in the den of the Wilk!

So on the way home Ashley looked at me and said "You have a spider on your face."

Well obviously that is one of THE most terrifying things a person could ever say to me.

I freaked out and then I saw it fall on the ground.  IT WAS WHITE!! ew! How the hay did that even get on me?!  I promise I shower everyday...

So anyway, today was amazing too!  I'm slowly, but surely warming up to being here and each day I feel a little less lonely :)
